Born in Mardin in 1989, Ömer Mirdemir initially studied Physics at Dicle University before discontinuing his studies and subsequently completing a degree in Anesthesia at Kafkas University. In 2011, he was admitted to the Department of Painting at Dokuz Eylül University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, where he completed his undergraduate education in 2015. In 2017, he began his master's studies in the Department of Painting at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University’s Faculty of Fine Arts.
Mirdemir’s artistic practice develops through the relationships between color, form, light, and space. In works where geometric structures are reconfigured through repetition, rhythm, and layering, he approaches the relationship between the individual and the whole as a pictorial problem. Color functions not merely as an element that completes the surface, but as a fundamental structural component that shapes form, spatial perception, and visual movement.
The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions and art events in Turkey and abroad. His work has been presented in Nefes Vol. 8 at Merkür Gallery, Points of Authority in Mardin, Desires, Belief, Loneliness at Rıdvan Kuday Gallery, ArtContact Istanbul, Step Istanbul, Art Show International Istanbul with Galeri Baraz, Artweeks Akaretler, the 3rd İzmir Art Biennial, and exhibitions organized by the Accademia Nazionale della Civetta in Italy.
Mirdemir continues to explore the formal possibilities of contemporary painting by approaching the picture surface not as a static composition, but as a dynamic field in which color and geometric form continuously transform one another.
