FIREZZ OPEN CALL: DOCUMENTS ON KURDISH CONTEMPORARY ART

As the FIREZZ Editorial Collective, we aim to contribute to the development of the conceptual language and terminology of Kurdish contemporary art. We recognize that this process cannot be shaped by a single institution, a single translator, or a single publication. Language evolves through collective production and public discourse; terminology, in turn, matures through texts, interviews, exhibition catalogues, biennial publications, art criticism, and academic studies.

Therefore, we invite you to share your documents, texts, translations, critiques, research, and interviews related to Kurdish contemporary art through FIREZZ. Our goal is to foster a space for the development of a conceptual framework that can be debated, substantiated, and further enriched through contributions from diverse disciplines.

Areas of Contribution

  • Exhibition catalogues, curatorial texts, and artist talks
  • Art criticism, articles, and research-based writing
  • Translation projects and terminology proposals
  • Interviews, conversations, and artist stories
  • Archival documents, memory studies, and interdisciplinary research

Our Language Policy

As a trilingual publication, FIREZZ produces texts in Turkish, Kurdish, and English. However, there are no language restrictions on contributions. You are welcome to submit your documents and texts in any language; we regard them as part of an ongoing collective conversation.

Archival Practice

FIREZZ regards every text it publishes as part of an archive of Kurdish contemporary art. Your documents will contribute to the development of this collective archive and serve as a lasting resource for future research.

Diversity of Fields

FIREZZ places no restrictions on the scope of contemporary art. We welcome contributions from all artistic fields, including cinema, literature, photography, installation, architecture, performance, digital art, video, sound installation, and interdisciplinary practices. Our aim is to bring together documents that reflect the broad and plural nature of contemporary art.

Why Participate?

  • To contribute to the development of a shared conceptual language for Kurdish contemporary art
  • To build bridges between different dialects, languages, disciplines, and perspectives
  • To create space for the emergence and consolidation of new concepts through collective production and discussion
  • To contribute to the documentation and archiving of Kurdish contemporary art
  • To make visible the relationships between contemporary art and cinema, literature, architecture, and other fields

Share your documents, texts, and interviews with us. Together, we can contribute to the development of an archive and a contemporary art terminology that can be debated, refined, and collectively shaped over time.
